A cantilever is a rigid structural element that extends horizontally and is unsupported at one end. Typically it extends from a flat vertical surface such as a wall, to which it must be firmly attached. Like other structural elements, a cantilever can be formed as a beam, plate, truss, or slab.
When subjected to a structural load at its far, unsupported end, the cantilever carries the load to the support where it applies a shear stress and a bending moment.
Cantilever construction allows overhanging structures without additional support.
An umbrella or parasol is a folding canopy supported by wooden or metal ribs that is mounted on a wooden, metal, or plastic pole. It is usually designed to protect a person against rain. The term umbrella is traditionally used when protecting oneself from rain, while parasol is used when protecting oneself from sunlight, though the terms continue to be used interchangeably. Often the difference is the material used for the canopy; some parasols are not waterproof, and some umbrellas are transparent. Umbrella canopies may be made of fabric or flexible plastic. There are also combinations of parasol and umbrella that are called en-tout-cas (French for "in any case").
Generally speaking, parasols and umbrellas are small, handheld, personal use items. Golf umbrellas are the biggest hand-portable umbrellas available. There are two types of umbrellas: completely collapsible umbrellas, which can be folded up into a small enough bag because of the supporting metal pole's ability to retract, and non-collapsible umbrellas, which only have the canopy that can be folded up. Manually operated umbrellas and spring-loaded automatic umbrellas, which open with a button press, can also be distinguished from one another.
Hand-held umbrellas have a type of handle which can be made from wood, a plastic cylinder or a bent "crook" handle (like the handle of a cane). Umbrellas are available in a range of price and quality points, ranging from inexpensive, modest quality models sold at discount stores to expensive, finely made, designer-labeled models. Larger parasols capable of blocking the sun for several people are often used as fixed or semi-fixed devices, used with patio tables or other outdoor furniture, or as points of shade on a sunny beach.

Beautiful product but could use more info and better pictures online.
First things first-
Pros- opens easily and the cover goes on easily as well. Seems well add but time will ultimately tell. The wood finish is stunning.
Cons: we have the 13’ rectangular umbrella and even though I called to confirm and was told I could place it at the head of the table like the pictures show- that’s not possible as the head of the umbrella doesn’t swivel- only the base does. Meaning you’d have it perpendicular to the table instead of parallel, length wise speaking.
Lastly, get 8×16 pavers instead of 16×16 to add an interesting parquet type pattern to the base. Which otherwise is quite ugly for something this expensive.
What should be provided is a top that is added on top of the pavers, hiding them. If I didn’t have kids, O would have done one less layer of pavers and replaced with white/river/beach stones. Instead, we have a few ferns around the base to cover the unfinished look.

We’ve only had this umbrella for a few weeks, but so far we absolutely love it. It’s huge and covers a giant chunk of our patio. It’s easy to open, close, and reposition. It looks great, and we think so despite having selected a color combo that wasn’t our first choice so we wouldn’t have to wait longer for it. We’re very glad we chose it!

Provides ample shade for our pool area, and is a great alternative to complex gazebo installations.

After considerable research over months, we gave in and purchased the umbrella. It’s on the higher cost for umbrellas but ease of use and being able to swivel 360 degree was a selling factor. For the first time, I was able to be outdoors for most of the day. It has a beautiful resort feel/vibe and goes well with our Frontgate Carlisle furniture and rug. The only downside, and the reason for the 4 stars, is the moment we opened the umbrella, the corners popped out of some and now we cannot get them back in correctly since apparently there is a spring that disappeared in two. My fear is that over time, they will break as they’re made of cheap plastic. This was an expensive purchase that over time may not work properly due to the corners popping out. We haven’t had a product from Frontgate that we didn’t like so hoping this umbrella lasts.

We got two of the 13’ square umbrellas. They are huge and easy to assemble in the sense that there are not a lot of parts. It definitely takes some strength to get the umbrella onto the stand but once you do it is very sturdy. It has sturdy metal and quality canvas. I thought I would be able to move it around if I wanted to change its location but that would be a bigger chore than I was thinking it would be so I don’t see that happening very often. Doesn’t matter though because the swivel is easy to use so it can cover a lot of ground without moving anywhere.
