A gate or gateway is a point of entry to or from a space enclosed by walls. The word derived from old Norse "gat" meaning road or path; But other terms include yett and port. The concept originally referred to the gap or hole in the wall or fence, rather than a barrier which closed it. Gates may prevent or control the entry or exit of individuals, or they may be merely decorative. The moving part or parts of a gateway may be considered "doors", as they are fixed at one side whilst opening and closing like one.

A gate may have a latch that can be raised and lowered to both open a gate or prevent it from swinging. Gate operation can be either automated or manual. Locks are also used on gates to increase security.

Larger gates can be used for a whole building, such as a castle or fortified town. Actual doors can also be considered gates when they are used to block entry as prevalent within a gatehouse. Today, many gate doors are equipped with self-closing devices that can improve safety, security, and convenience.

It is important to choose a controlled gate closer to ensure a consistent closing speed, as well as safety and security. A self-closing gate can help prevent accidents by children or pets, particularly around swimming pools, spas, beaches and hot tubs. A self-closing gate can also improve the security of the property by ensuring that the gate is closed and latched properly. There are various types of gate closers available, including exposed spring devices, gate closers, spring hinges, and self-closing hinges. The appropriate type of closer will depend on the weight and size of the gate, as well as other factors like speed control, weather resistance, and ADA compliance.

A wire is a flexible, round, bar of metal. Wires are commonly formed by drawing the metal through a hole in a die or draw plate. Wire gauges come in various standard sizes, as expressed in terms of a gauge number or cross-sectional area.

Wires are used to bear mechanical loads, often in the form of wire rope. In electricity and telecommunications signals, a "wire" can refer to an electrical cable, which can contain a "solid core" of a single wire or separate strands in stranded or braided forms.

Usually cylindrical in geometry, wire can also be made in square, hexagonal, flattened rectangular, or other cross-sections, either for decorative purposes, or for technical purposes such as high-efficiency voice coils in loudspeakers. Edge-wound coil springs, such as the Slinky toy, are made of special flattened wire.

X, or x, is the twenty-fourth letter of the Latin alphabet, used in the modern English alphabet, the alphabets of other western European languages and others worldwide. Its name in English is ex (pronounced ), plural exes.

This gate is well made and looks very nice in our fence line. We have goats. You don’t have to worry about them getting out or getting their head stuck in it!

Set between two, also from Tractor Supply, new 8 foot uncut 6 ” pressure treated posts in two foot deep holes with two bags of concrete each and exactly 10 feet apart. Gate fits perfect into an exact 10 foot rough opening with the two supplied hinge lags. Light weight gate, no sagging. Perfect.

It is doing the trick. My Billy goat went through my other gate, but this one is keeping him in his pasture and away from my does!

Great fence for my purposes. Built welded wire fence with T post to hold back my dog and 3 year old. Ran 400 ft fence and two gates. This is perfect for driving my truck and camper in yard. Light material but heavy enough to serve purpose. Great product so far.

I have been using these wire filled gates to build our specialty farm that raises exotics and domestic hoofstock, we have lots of these panels all around here in assorted lengths used for entry gates, double safety gates (2 entrances), and as fence panels for small livestock. Panels are strong, affordable and classy look with that gorgeous green powder coating.
