Black is a color that results from the absence or complete absorption of visible light. It is an achromatic color, without hue, like white and grey. It is often used symbolically or figuratively to represent darkness. Black and white have often been used to describe opposites such as good and evil, the Dark Ages versus Age of Enlightenment, and night versus day. Since the Middle Ages, black has been the symbolic color of solemnity and authority, and for this reason it is still commonly worn by judges and magistrates.

Black was one of the first colors used by artists in Neolithic cave paintings. It was used in ancient Egypt and Greece as the color of the underworld. In the Roman Empire, it became the color of mourning, and over the centuries it was frequently associated with death, evil, witches, and magic. In the 14th century, it was worn by royalty, clergy, judges, and government officials in much of Europe. It became the color worn by English romantic poets, businessmen and statesmen in the 19th century, and a high fashion color in the 20th century. According to surveys in Europe and North America, it is the color most commonly associated with mourning, the end, secrets, magic, force, violence, fear, evil, and elegance.

Black is the most common ink color used for printing books, newspapers and documents, as it provides the highest contrast with white paper and thus is the easiest color to read. Similarly, black text on a white screen is the most common format used on computer screens. As of September 2019, the darkest material is made by MIT engineers from vertically aligned carbon nanotubes.

Foams are two-phase material systems where a gas is dispersed in a second, non-gaseous material, specifically, in which gas cells are enclosed by a distinct liquid or solid material.: 6 : 4  The foam "may contain more or less liquid [or solid] according to circumstances",: 6  although in the case of gas-liquid foams, the gas occupies most of the volume.: 4  The word derives from the medieval German and otherwise obsolete veim, in reference to the "frothy head forming in the glass once the beer has been freshly poured" (cf. ausgefeimt).: 1

Theories regarding foam formation, structure, and properties—in physics and physical chemistry—differ somewhat between liquid and solid foams in that the former are dynamic (e.g., in their being "continuously deformed"), as a result of gas diffusing between cells, liquid draining from the foam into a bulk liquid, etc.: 1–2  Theories regarding liquid foams have as direct analogs theories regarding emulsions,: 3  two-phase material systems in which one liquid is enclosed by another.

In most foams, the volume of gas is large, with thin films of liquid or solid separating the regions of gas. A bath sponge and the head on a glass of beer are examples of foams; soap foams are also known as suds.

Solid foams can be closed-cell or open-cell. In closed-cell foam, the gas forms discrete pockets, each completely surrounded by the solid material. In open-cell foam, gas pockets connect to each other. A bath sponge is an example of an open-cell foam: water easily flows through the entire structure, displacing the air. A sleeping mat is an example of a product composed of closed-cell foam.

Foams are examples of dispersed media. In general, gas is present, so it divides into gas bubbles of different sizes (i.e., the material is polydisperse)—separated by liquid regions that may form films, thinner and thinner when the liquid phase drains out of the system films. When the principal scale is small, i.e., for a very fine foam, this dispersed medium can be considered a type of colloid.

Foam can also refer to something that is analogous to foam, such as quantum foam.

Rubbermaid is an American manufacturer and distributor of household items. A subsidiary of Newell Brands, it is best known for producing food storage containers and trash cans. It also produces sheds, step stools, closets and shelving, laundry baskets, bins, air fresheners and other household items.

Stocks (also capital stock, or sometimes interchangeably, shares) consist of all the shares by which ownership of a corporation or company is divided. A single share of the stock means fractional ownership of the corporation in proportion to the total number of shares. This typically entitles the shareholder (stockholder) to that fraction of the company's earnings, proceeds from liquidation of assets (after discharge of all senior claims such as secured and unsecured debt), or voting power, often dividing these up in proportion to the number of like shares each stockholder owns. Not all stock is necessarily equal, as certain classes of stock may be issued, for example, without voting rights, with enhanced voting rights, or with a certain priority to receive profits or liquidation proceeds before or after other classes of shareholders.

Stock can be bought and sold privately or on stock exchanges. Transactions of the former are closely overseen by governments and regulatory bodies to prevent fraud, protect investors, and benefit the larger economy. As new shares are issued by a company, the ownership and rights of existing shareholders are diluted in return for cash to sustain or grow the business. Companies can also buy back stock, which often lets investors recoup the initial investment plus capital gains from subsequent rises in stock price. Stock options issued by many companies as part of employee compensation do not represent ownership, but represent the right to buy ownership at a future time at a specified price. This would represent a windfall to the employees if the option were exercised when the market price is higher than the promised price, since if they immediately sold the stock they would keep the difference (minus taxes).

Stock bought and sold in private markets fall within the private equity realm of finance.

Super sturdy, I have stood on it to get on my horse. Was surprised that it was made out of foam.

It is a wonderful product. The one we purchased had a leak. We are an animal sanctuary and needed it for the hurricane and we called TS and they were amazing. They had someone deliver another promptly to the sanctuary at no extra charge. What amazing staff and the new tub meets our needs.

I purchased this online, site unseen. I didn’t realize how big it actually was. It’s perfect and I couldn’t have asked for a better price!

I like these water trough but the bottom cracked after 2 years of use. It was not in the sun for the 2 years. So I had to buy another one. Hopefully this one won’t crack.

The tub looks better in the yard than it does in the photo, esp. if you turn the logo away. I use it for cold baths in the morning, the capacity is just right for a full, comfortable immersion even by a tall person. The plastic is strong, so far no cracking issues. I will eventually set it on a permanent surface and give it a wood surround and a lid. The plan is to get another, and have a heated hot tub with the ice tub right next to it. Yes, immersion heaters safe for this level of plastic do exist. A large fish tank circulation filter pump with a fountain feature keeps the mosquitoes away (cheaper than pond pumps and more appropriate for the volume.) Would recommend, will buy again.

The only disadvantage with this tank is that my regular floats were not deep enough to shut off water flow so I was required to purchase a new float. Positive–my horses loved the large deep tank so much I thought they might climb in and play in the water.

My Chesapeake Bay Retriever approves! Bought this for my water loving dog. Had a small kiddy pool for a few years but they did not hold up to my dogs constant use. Decided to get something a little deeper and heavy duty and this is it. My dog loves this and just jumps in whenever he gets overheated playing around in the summer. Also super easy to drain with bottom drainplug!

Great value as a water trough for my dogs. Now if only they could make it with something that would keep it from developing algae. I know that’s some kind of voodoo magic I’m asking for but hey, a girl can dream.
